Unable to use hardware synths via Maschine 2.0 plugin in Logic Pro x

Just the title is certainly a mouthful.

Basically, I can run my synths as external hardware devices in logic no problem. I can run my hardware synths in maschine no problem.

However, when I open maschine as an AU instrument, I am unable to hear any audio from my hardware synths. All the VST based instruments work in the plugin version fine. I also notice that no midi is even being sent to my synth when maschine is open in plugin format. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong??


Also, bonus question:

Is there any way to hear my external synth in maschine through my computer speakers?? I seem to only be able to listen via my monitors/headphones.
