I've just bought a new Maxtor Hard Drive (Diamond 133 UDMA 200 Go) to stock all my audio files (Music, samples, etc...) and I curiously have awfull audio troubles when using this new Hard Drive :
-> When I use Kontakt VSTI in Cubase or even in Stand Alone, if the samples is saved on the Maxtor, I have this kind of horrible "Crackle" as if I had a soundcard problem.
...And the sound is just perfect when I use the same sample recorded in the original Hard Drive (Hitachi 100 UDMA 80 Go).
-> Other problem even weirder :I have CPU overload every 5 sec. when using Cubase and Winamp at the same time if the track read by Winamp is recorded on the Maxtor (I still use my DELL soundcard/speakers and bought an ECHO MIA MIDI and semi-professional ampli/monitors for audio).
One more time, none of these CPU overloads in Cubase if the track read by Winamp is saved on the original Hitachi Hard Drive...and I can use both cards simultaneously (one for Cubase and one for Winamp) with a perfect stability.
Have you already experienced similar problems ?!
Is it a fabrication defect on the Maxtor ?!!
FYI, I partitionated the Hard Drive in 40 Go and 160 Go. Could be the reason ?
My configuration : Dell Dimension 8300 3GH / Chipset I875P with HT / 1 Giga RAM
Every answers are welcome !:)
... And thank you for stopping by anyway
