Hi,

I've only really got experience of Logic but need to know if stereo audio .wav stem files be imported into all DAWs?

Thanks!

I've only really got experience of Logic but need to know if stereo audio .wav stem files [can] be imported into all DAWs? (As opposed to just mono files.)

If you use something other than Logic, please write down the name of the DAW and a "yes" or a "no". It would be a massive help, as I'm writing an exam for some students!

Samplitude/Sequoia = YES

Market survey detected. Shutting down systems. Standby...

lol !!!

Really not ... I'm just participating.

Just kidding. :P Although the request sounds a bit odd, TBH.

Stereo wav files are the very lowest common denominator, although type-1 midi files come quite close to that as well. Works a treat! Who'd want universally convertable project files? All the world's pro studios have ProTools running for a reason, not?

And how the heck are these students supposed to know? You cannot put in an exam what hasn't been taught. Would be unfair...

What about you look for some user manuals of other daws or install some and try figuring it out yourself?
We are the KVR collective. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated. Image

Genuinely not a market survey! Cheers for the replies though.

I'm trying to figure out if the stem files I've recorded can be used by students who use different DAWs.

Between them they use Reaper, Cubase, Ableton and probably others I don't know about!

Can anyone help with the above or beyond?

Fair point - was just trying to save some time!

Students won't need to know anything about it ... it's just so it sounds better once they've got the stems into their DAW. Clearly I'm more of a musician than a tech.

I think the simple answer is "yes".

Post

That's a yes. No problem whatsoever.

Post

cubase imports wav stereo files. Pretty sure all other daws do.

EnergyXT2 will import stereo WAVs

It does. It makes no sense at all actually, to think there might be a desktop workstation that could export a stereo mix but couldn't itself import a common stereo audio file.
