Can NI Kontakt libraries be downloaded in one computer and transfered to another?

What's up guys,

Maybe a dumb question but I'm struggling to download everything to my studio computer (slow Internet and no possibility to go wired). I was wondering if Native Instruments stuff (specially Kontakt libraries from NI) could be downloaded somewhere else and then activated here. I know that this is not currently supported by NI with Native Access (what a SHIT of system by the way... :dog: ) but I don't know if this applies lo libraries.

In other words, can I download all NI Kontakt libraries and transfer them to my studio computer to activate them there with Native Access? Can it actually be done? (AFAIK this is not possible with software itself, Massive for instance..)

Cheers :tu:

If logging into my account at the NI website, I can download my products on the sub-page "MY PRODUCTS, SERIALS, AND DOWNLOADS" in my profile.

I don't need Native Access to do that.

The activation is going to be strictly from local. Now I had to re-read: if you download the Kontakt libraries via Native Access, they should be activated through that, that is my experience. IE: if they show up in your NA, NI knows you're authorized. I just installed a couple of things on a new computer and they don't need activation. I think this is the first time I used Native Access for libraries. Also, I've installed Absynth and Massive straight thru NA here, they don't need to be activated. It used to be enforced that you may only have 3 activations, but that's long gone.

No you can't (if I'm not wrong). Try it, what you download is a downloader of the product...

The downloader is basically Native Access in operation but I think if you do not have NA installed the installer still works. I don't have any particular issues with it, so I wouldn't know specifically why one would avoid it.

I installed Kore 2 strictly thru the download archives, it does not appear in Native Access in any scenario so far this year and I don't think that can even happen.

I know activation has to be local but the problem is big downloads (15-20 gB), it would take 1 week...

Do you want a list with the issues? :hihi:

Just my post is one of them: very slow Internet connection (or none) in many studio computers is typical. It's a pain in the neck to try to install NI stuff there (it was already before but now you can't even do it). The idea is to go to a hard wire connected computer, download software there and take it to the studio.

Thanks for the answer anyway :tu:

It has been awhile since it last downloaded something from that page, but the guide still lists it as an option
Where Can I Find the Full Installers for my Product?

All supported products can be installed directly in Native Access. In case you need the full installer for a NI product which is not supported, log in to your online account and navigate to MY ACCOUNT > My Products and Serials. Click the DOWNLOAD button next to a serial number to download the respective product.

Ok, sorry, I'm back to my first assessment of your sitch. I have not relied on Native Access for authorization except as I describe so far, installing via NA means the things are activated thru that. In the case of eg., Kore 2, I had to get Service Center to do it. NA is apparently designed to obviate SC.

It used to be that one could request a code for activation on a different computer and paste that file in where you need it. I don't know if that still exists.

Yeah, I've faced my share of long waits to get things to happen because new computer. I don't really blame Native Access for that situation, though. You may have other issues but I'm not actual NI tech support, so good luck with those.

I'm kind of out of it apparently. If you download the libs where that works and transfer it in some convenient way to your real location, the routine Kontakt uses for your 'Powered by Kontakt' Libraries which you evidently have should work. Kontakt won't have the activation and it will prompt you.

All right so if I understand correctly, what you don't download via NA has to be activated through SC? Do you know if one can activate already downloaded stuff from NA?

Thanks for your reply mate :tu:

Sorry, I'm not hitting on all cylinders today. Yeah, if not via NA, SC comes into play and that's about it afaik. But the Kontakt Libraries can be straight-activated in Kontakt.
I think my downloading Kore via the old way (now from 'Legacy' pages) amounts to the same thing as already downloaded/not activated applications, doesn't it?
I had to go thru changes to get SC to even see Kore 2, but I assume current products will, once launched be detected as not authorized and now SC can be started from the prompt: Demo, Buy, or Activate.

Post

I had to go to Google Starbucks to download all my Kontakt stuff not long ago. Yeah, normally Kontakt is all you need to authorize any/all that that needs to be.

It's a bit of a hack, but see the section "Download a Full Installer" here (if you use Windows):
https://support.native-instruments.com/ ... s-Windows-

You should be able to move the downloaded iso file to your studio computer then and install from that.
That is it mate!!
That's what I was looking for pretty much, I'll see if it works

Cheers!! :tu:
