Does anyone have Rhythmbox preset mids? (kr-55, tr-66 etc)

I have, for instance, samples of the KR-55 drums, and I would like to be able to use it as an emulation of the original, but this thing had up to 96 different patterns. I'm looking for midi presets of the following:
Maestro Rhythm King MK2
Hohner Automatic Rhythm Player
Roland Rhythm Arranger Tr-33
Electro-Harmonix DRM 32
Any other preset mids would be interesting to check out. Thanks.

Don't have those, but I have made a MIDI file of all the Roland CR-78 presets if that's any use.

Not MIDI but you can have the original KR-55 loops as Wav here:
http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 2&t=467798
Some hosts can then extract the grooves from the loops as midi files.
CR-78 From Mars also includes midi groove files:

You guys are the best! Those kr-55 loops will come in very handy.
Mr Arkadin, I would love to get that midi file of the cr-78 patterns!

I've attached the MIDI patterns I made from the original hand-written notation score at the back of the manual. I then compared to the original patterns and I think they're all OK.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

This is amazing. Thanks so much. I'm lining them up and feeding them into my step sequencer now.
One thing: the velocities appear to be fixed, though some of the off velocities vary, like cha-cha and mambo. Do these mids account for the velocity/accent feature?

I didn't add any accents because I couldn't make out from the hand-written notation which instruments the accent affected (maybe it's all). Also it would mean the accents would be fixed velocity. Not sure what you mean by off velocity as I wouldn't have touched that.publicradio wrote:This is amazing. Thanks so much. I'm lining them up and feeding them into my step sequencer now.

If you download the CR-78 manual you can see the notation on the back page which shows the accented notes.

Wow, I can't believe you translated this into midi. It looks like chicken scratch.
I'm guessing (>) is meant to indicate the accented notes. I guess there are only two velocity values: normal and accented. I'll see if I can translate this.

It took some doing, and I had to cross-reference with the actual patterns on my real CR-78 to check if I'd got them right (I made quite a few mistakes!).publicradio wrote:Wow, I can't believe you translated this into midi. It looks like chicken scratch.
No, the accent is adjustable by a dial on the machine, so there is no 'one' velocity value. The accent is infinitely variable from no accent to maximum. The '>' just indicates where the accent will go (but I'm not sure if it's on all instruments under the '>' or just some, e.g just kick).publicradio wrote: I'm guessing (>) is meant to indicate the accented notes. Actually, on closer inspection, it looks like you did put in the accents.
What I meant by one velocity value is that it's binary, even through it's variable. There's either an accent or no accent. You can turn the dial and make the accent more pronounced, but you wont have a snare roll that goes in a crescendo from very soft, to normal, to very loud. It's either normal or accented.
I'm going through and setting all the normal notes to 64 velocity, and the accents to 127. I think piz has a velocity scale vst so maybe I can use that to simulate the accent knob.

Could I have a copy of that version when you've done it?publicradio wrote: I'm going through and setting all the normal notes to 64 velocity, and the accents to 127. I think piz has a velocity scale vst so maybe I can use that to simulate the accent knob.

Hey Mr Arkadin, I'm still working on those MIDS, but in the meantime I have a question for you: Does the CR-78 have a choke for the hi hats? It seems to me that if you play an open hat, and then a closed one right after it, the open hat plays right over the closed hat.

Well technically the CR-78 doesn't have an open hi-hat. It only has Hi-hat officially listed (which I take as a closed hi-hat) and the sound you think is an open hi-hat is actually the crash cymbal, so there would be no muting going on.
