Do you know of any? (And no, this is not about one-hit wonders)

Joe Domingo, an 80's italian hip-hop anomaly. There isn't much info about the guy other than that picture of him contemplating the sunset or whatever.

Are we talking one-hit wonders (please form an orderly line) or people who recorded exactly one song that anyone outside their immediate family heard before quitting (this one is a bit trickier)?

Lee Marvin sings on four songs in the movie of Paint Your Wagon.

I was thinking one hit wonders, but I see the OP has been edited since I posted.

Chris Finch, he kissed Madonna every night of the '87 tour

And went on to record a single called Sweeter Love: https://www.discogs.com/Chris-Finch-Swe ... se/6329471

How 'successful' does this one song have to be?
How well known does the artist have to be?

Hell, I know of a few people on KVR who have only made one song :hihi:

And can one hit wonders count, if they didn't make any other songs?

Hmmm Artists that only made exactly 1 song in their entire career....
That's me! :)
No, I made two :)

In terms of impact, Jai Paul commanded an extraordinary number of column inches and hype from just two singles in 2011 and 2012 respectively. He's supposedly been working on an album all this time since, but I have to ask if we're ever going to see it given that we're in 2017.

Two singles (unless we take the 'demo' suffix on Jasmine literally) is cheating of course, and there's a ton of more obscure artists and novelty singles I'll be posting in this thread later, but thought I'd get the interesting outlier out of the way first as the sheer amount of lasting hype generated by such little material is surely near-unprecedented.

Post

Actually, I won't be posting half as many as I thought because almost everything pre-digital has a B-side. One of my specialist subjects is bedroom synthpop obscurities from the 80s, but none of the 'one release' bands I've checked so far are like Joe Domingo where the B-side is just an alternate mix of the same track.

Even 13 :D Sorry, didn't check...
my intuition was wrong this time

Realistically, the only candidates are going to be minor celebs who decided to do a novelty single or try to break into music - and failed immediately - or shortlived punk acts that made it onto something like the Bullshit Detector series put out by Crass's label before splitting up. Everyone else will have had a follow-up single or recorded at least an EP's worth of material.

I'm assuming one-off collaborations like The Holez are off limits.

13 is the total number, but it´s Freed from.. and 12 others :)

The last couple of days I´ve tried to come up with tunes which I knew represented an artist with a very short career, who also did not have the skill to be assumed given any faith by the artists label in releasing more. But yeah, every time there´s at least one more single - just to try if it would work out I guess. Maybe it´s possible to find some songs from the 60´s.. dunno. Great concept for this thread anyway :)

Ah, here´s one:

https://www.discogs.com/artist/2863794-Harald-Nielsen-3

This was a football player, and the song is from 1961, and I assume it´s ok to have released two songs if the other one is the b-side of the single.

Yeah, this thread can only go further if we're more flexible. So I changed the title.

Lakseswingtetten, a hip-hop group from Denmark released a couple of tracks. And this is the only one to be found on YouTube. I like the incredible silly nature of this clip. My guess is that it was just a bunch of friends who wanted to have some fun and stopped.
