Dusty sound

Been trying various things with equally varying degrees of success to get some stuff with a kind of "dusty" sound. Not sure if that's a good explanation, but I'm thinking of the kinda windswept desert sound that Muslimgauze has on many of his works (Gun Aramaic being a good example if u strip that sweeping synthsound out).

I'm sure there's a process out there to give sound that kinda quality without having to just make the sounds have that quality in the first place.

Maybe I'm missing something. Or a lot!

Any ideas? Can't be just the wind sound, surely?
