This is the first attempt at recording it, as you will probably be able to tell, the recording is choppy, as I recorded it in chunks. I am about to retrack the whole deal and lay down the vocals, but wanted to see what people thought..

I was expecting a remix of the vocal trance song "Got to get away" by alice deejay..

this sounds very sad and depressing hmm.. the bass is kind of ooompa oompa loompa ooompa.. but it all seems to meld pretty well..

also (disclaimer) you should know that I'm not a giant fan of the guitar or its sound.. not that I dislike it.. but I'm not well 'intuned' with its qualities..

so take what I say with a grain of salt..

a bit discordant at the end there (2:37).. dunno if that was intentional or not.. but i'd keep it if it wasnt.. seems to really fit the whole feel of the song.

the drums dont punch though like I expected.. the guitar and bass seem to be way up front.. I actually like the bass and guitar levels.. but think the drums should be a bit more audible (though slightly)

I dont know if this makes any sense.. but I have to say this has an australian feel to the playing especially the chorus(es).. almost powderfinger-esque

'the sun has gone down on me and its time to move on' type feel to me

thanks for the input. Right now the drums were basically a metronome for now, until I can get over to my brothers pad and actually play some drums on it. The agree that the bass is alittle bit umpa lumpa, but I suck at bass- I will try to rework it for the real version.

Okay, I've listened to this a couple of times now and I have to say i really like it a lot. Some nice punchy drums would really set this off! I'd also like to hear the bass use a few passing notes to give it a more varied "walking" feeling. Overall great starting point. I also kept thinking wouldn't this be nice if there was a B-3 in the background every now and then. Any plans for additional instrumentation? (other than the drums you mentioned). I likes it! Finish it add vocals and post it by tomorrow!

Asside from the bass guitar missing a little top end sparkle to help it stand out, not bad.

Hey a fellow houstonian! Anyway, I do have some additional instrumentation in mind- I will prolly play a part on my rhodes or use organized trio to add some depth to the mix. The bass is just 2 different parts looped for now- like I said I suck at bass.

I have also recently added some french horns to emphasize the 3rds of the chords in what will be the verse section. I have MTrons vibes coming in at the 2nd refrain, but Im not convinced that I like them yet.

Anyway, I have fragments of the lyrics, but for me that is the hardest part of writing, so it could be a while before I finish- hopefully I wont get too tired of it to want to finish it as is usual for me..

What to me felt so odd, although I am sure it's not really bad, but it seems as if the accoustics are indecisive of which channel they want to be on as they swayed from left to right. But like said, not really a nit, just something I noticed.

Yeah some Rhodes on top and improved drums and I cant wait to hear an improved version.

Liking the feel this is giving me allready

Liked the guitar sound, nice and jangly. The verse was good, but the choruses seemed to meander around a lot to me without a definite hook if you see what I mean. Of course this could change with the addition of ye olde singing.
