Czukay's body was discovered inside his apartment on 5 September 2017. The actual date and cause of death is currently unknown, and is subject to a police investigation.

He was a lot more than Can's bass player. He will be missed.
On the early classic Can albums, he recorded the group jamming and decided which tapes were special and worth releasing on album. The early recordings were improvised, stereo mixes with no overdubs.
