Kontakt 5.7 -- impressions? Bug fixes?

Just got an email from NI about the latest version of Kontakt; says it adds some guitar FX and some instrument-building tools (neither of which are too important for me) but also "fixes some bugs" -- that matters, potentially.
I'm still on v5.5, the version before they introduced that thankfully short-lived new way of colouring keys. I would have updated once they got rid of that, but then I've read so much online about very unwelcome hassles, confusion and generally un-NI-like chaos with various 5.6 point updates. Libraries disappearing and / or having to be redownloaded, etc. Last I checked, the new library manager or whatever they call the thing they've rolled out actually requires some kind of deliberate hack to work properly.
As my current version of Kontakt ain't broke, and by temperment I am a scaredy-cat who shys away from the bleeding edge, updates-wise (I still have deep scars from Sonar and Waves), I've stayed with 5.5. Which is a drag as most new libraries require 5.6. Kontakt has been pretty much my main "VI",
Anyway, can any of you who have experienced unusual / disruptive problems with 5.6, or know what I'm talking about, tell me whether 5.7 fixes these things? Without introducing any new bugs?

5.7 fixes Kontakt bugs, not Native Access bugs (the changelog is visible by the public so you can see what was fixed). Native Access bugs are fixed by using the newest possible version of Native Access (figures), which is 1.4.1 at the moment of writing.

I haven't tested 5.7 yet, just examined the changelog. But concerning mentioned 5.6 chaos, I think this means serial numbering changes introduced in 5.6.8, I'd say you are safe to update to 5.6.6, which brings back the colored keys.

I find this interesting:
With these additions who many amp models and effects are included in Kontakt in total?
Previously I cannot remember that they ever have mentioned such additions upfront in the blurb, when presenting new versions of Kontakt. The update adds three new guitar amp models and two additional distortion effects.

After the update the kontakt5.dll is missing and i cannot seem to find it on my computer. Checked the installation path after the latest NI access update which looks fine. Still running the search. If i only knew if its kontakt5.dll or kontakt 5.dll....

Changelog for the most recently released version is always (and has always been) available on NI forums in this thread.Numanoid wrote:I find this interesting:Previously I cannot remember that they ever have mentioned such additions upfront in the blurb, when presenting new versions of Kontakt. The update adds three new guitar amp models and two additional distortion effects.
That will be 5 amps and 3 guitar distortion stompboxes.Numanoid wrote:With these additions who many amp models and effects are included in Kontakt in total?
It's "Kontakt 5.dll". Read what I posted on NI forums in the thread where you posted, try it. Happened to me once before. Protip: never mess with location of .dll files after installation.blaubär wrote:After the update the kontakt5.dll is missing and i cannot seem to find it on my computer. You can't actually download this update in order install on an offline machine. NA doesn't allow you to retain updates on disk as far as I can tell - it updates your online machine and then - poof - the updater vanishes into the ether. The page offering downloads on the NI site is only up to 5.6.6. Brave new world it seems.

Another thread on this topic

Holy sh*t. To quote the film "Rosemary's Baby", "This is no dream, this is really happening!" (Mia Farrow, realising she really is being raped by the devil.)
EvilDragon, is there a simple answer to the question: I have bought and used about 80 third-party libraries in Kontakt over the years, all of which have worked fine in every version of Kontakt I've used, up to and including 5.5 (where I'm perching). If I update to 5.7, do I still get to use them?

I've posted on that thread first, and yes, it appears we can use our registered third party libraries. Although it seems very different as they make us 're-register' everything, it effectively comes out as about the same as it was for Service Center to authorize them, just without Kontakt automatically asking and opening up Access to do so.lingyai wrote:Another thread on this topic

Have not tried the 'no-register-needed' libraries as of yet.

Yes, all your old libraries will still work if you update from 5.5 to 5.7 no problem (make sure you have the latest version of Native Access when updating, which is I think 1.4.1 right now). You don't have to reregister what was already registered if they have already been installed on your computer.

In my case, they most definitely required re-registering, even though they were already installed and registered before the update.EvilDragon wrote:Yes, all your old libraries will still work if you update from 5.5 to 5.7 no problem (make sure you have the latest version of Native Access when updating, which is I think 1.4.1 right now). And now that you bring it up, I went to the site to download "the latest version" of Access and immediately on start up was hit with it not being the latest version. It's one little thing after another with this, and after a few of them it begins to pile up.
