Thanks for the direction guys. A channel strip looks like the best solution. I did a bit of research into the Focusrite ones and there's a lot of bad comments about them so I think I'll try and find something with better reviews. The Presonus Studio Channel is an option, though perhaps a bit more than I was looking to spend.
