today i caught this song "away from the sun" by "Three doors down" ..
mostly the vocals. any idea how u get that vocal sound... i like it. (and the snare)
And how would you judge the quality of this production ?

ok right forum this time
I think having a great set of vocal chords, and a good mic went a long way in this. I didn't hear any special fx to achieve his sound.

yes... but what kinda mic... and i *think* there is a compressor at work too... i like this song, except for this part (before the last chorus, i think) where the level of guitar has been piked up ? very abrupt id say.I think having a great set of vocal chords, and a good mic went a long way in this

have you checked that 'pumping compression' thread, still on the front page at the moment. mostly for drums, but still might give a clue.
also, voxformer is a compressor specifically for vocals. you might try the demo, it sounds great, I've been meaning to catch it myself.
