Oh yeah,it's a wonderful synth :D I bought mine new three years ago-still one of the best musical purchases I've ever made.
If you do,the mirror of the old Waldorf FTP site can be found here;

You can find the latest OS and patches there.

Yeah, I bought the Qoldorf Q lite with the free upgarde to a normal Q rack. They must be practically free these days

never understood why people bought Attack when the Q was more flexible ie a real synth and has drum maps

fantastic synth, the best you can get for the money - unless you want knobs for everything, but then not many synths in this price range have comb filters (damn yummy) and some nice/very different modulation possibilities

How cheap?

Where from? (UK pref)

Does it work as a midi controller too?

On germany they're at avg. 350euro, sometimes even 300euro. On UK you might be able to get one for 200 pounds.

I wouldn't use the microQ as a midi controller. It has about 12 knobs. The reason why i didn't buy a microQ was that i found it too less intuitive, easy to control.

But look at the features! Where else do you get that at the same price?

I also got a µQ.

I don´t think it is not intuitve, you have to get ropund the matrix once, then programming is easy, even with the few knobs.
Or you can use an PC editor like Qknobs, and it is free. So all you need is there.

If you can get hold of a µQ do it. At these prices
it is a must I´d say.

Only thing is I would like to change it to a Q or Q+ version, but haven´t got the money. :(

I think if you get a µQ (more the cold one) and an Yamaha AN1x(more the warm one), you have
so many VA-synth possiblities, and it is really affordable.

Under 300 GBP (usually around 250'ish).

Sound on Sound Classifieds is a good place to look.

The MicroQ is a rackmount so no, but a keyboard version is available. Its not a common or as cheap though. The microQ does do midi out so i suppose you could use its 4 rotaries if you liked - dont know how useful that would be though.

PS I bought on of those a few years ago and it is really a special synth. The filters are beyond amazing.

the q is the best va synth i've ever used. you'll be inspired just by the bandpass filters. plus it has wavetables on 2 of the 3 oscillators. my yellow one died from the wrong pwr supply getting plugged into it. beware tho, some micro-q units have a hum in the audio when u try to record with them. i think the newer blue units dont have that issue though. either way, you'll be glad you own it when everybody rediscovers it
