I really enjoy the Waves NX and Sonarworks headphone plugin in my DAW.

I spent all of yesterday afternoon trying different ways to get the Spotify audio to play into the DAW so I could listen to it using these VSTs so it will sound much better on headphones.

Tried the LoopBeAudio and ASIO4ALL method. In Reaper I set the ASIO4ALL inputs to the LoopBeAudio and the the ASIO4ALL outputs to my DacPort Pro. Setting the default playback to LoopBeAudio internal playback means that the Spotify audio goes through the LoopBeAudio.

Whilst in Spotify, I got the "Song unavailable" error after clicking on a song to play it. When I close Reaper, Spotify plays to the LoopBeAudio just fine.

I'm still scratching my head. Why would this happen?

Are there any alternatives. I did try Fidelify, but uninstalled it in disgust because it would not load practically any VST or at least would show an error when trying to display the VST interface (to change the VST settings etc).

All I want to do is listen to Spotify through Waves NX and Sonarworks for better headphone experience :x :clown:

I use Audio Hijack on Mac for something similar; this might be similarly useful on Windows:

Sonarworks has SystemWide which is designed for being used outside a DAW. Might look into that.

I use DDMF's Virtual Audio Stream to put VSTs on my headphone output. Might be worth giving the demo a spin to see if it works for you: https://ddmf.eu/virtual-audio-stream/

Waves NX has a standalone version and Sonarworks has Systemwide which both allow you to process any audio, including audio coming from streaming services. Not sure why you would want to use the VSTs. Just use Waves NX standalone and/or Sonarworks Systemwide and you are good to go. :)

Can you use both NX standalone along with Sonarworks standalone together, as in a chain?

It never stops to amaze me that asio4all is still around in 2017 !!

Equalizer APO works as a VST host/chainer, since the latest version (v1.2)!
It use your WDM audio driver for audio output. In combination with Voicemeeter (Virtual Audio Mixer) you can use ASIO, WASAPI.

It`s free and easy (no need of virtual audio cables).
Install Equalizer APO, start Configuration Editor, select your audio device, remove everything you don`t need from the rack and add your VST`s.

Voicemeeter: https://www.vb-audio.com/Voicemeeter/index.htm
It`s not a bug... it`s a feature!
