I hope there'll be a 32 bit bridge for 32 bit plugins, but i doubt it:

"Later this year, Ableton Live will only be available in a 64-bit version. But what does that mean for you?"

-It means they've inadvertently slipped out the fact that we're getting Ableton Live 10 this year !!! (erm, maybe!)

I was kinda hoping they'd go 33 bit and build slowly up to 64 bit. Oh well.
This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

Well... who shall blame them. :) One can figure how many 32-bit installations they still have, if most major DAW's are 64-bit only now.

We Can Hope Right Haha :D

What I got from the article is there will be no more updates for 32 bit Live, and no 32bit bridge. I think it was inevitable after they dropped support for XP in 2014. That was when I went 64bit, and Live stopped crashing (mostly). Hopefully it'll speed up development.

they will skip Live 10 - 63. Live 64 is around the corner.

If you're steadfast about using 32 bit only plugins, just buy a bridge

It's not like 64 bit has just crept up on us :hihi:

If live was $200 software it's fine. But it is not. So people wont forgive the laziness. We are just asking ableton bridge. How about "Buy push to get free bridge!"? Is it enough to motivate ableton CEO?

It's lazy for plugin developers not to adopt 64 bit, not the other way round. There has to be a balance between focusing on the future and spending development dollars supporting the past. If the customer wants to support the past, then let them spend their dollars on a bridge.

Should Ableton burn their bridges with the past?

Ok call developer who gave away their time to develop a free plugin lazy. Its a matter of taste. Or ableton can pay them to code 64bit ver. How about that?

this is inevitable, Apple already announced the next version of macOS will be 64 bit only . (iOS already is), and Microsoft will do the same before too long. Cubase did the same already - no?
32 bit is basically dead, no reason to support it, there are workarounds/bridges.
let the Ableton developers focus on what 3rd parties cannot do, which is develop the DAW.
