Morning World,
New track for you. I'm not completely satisfied with it, and as usual I seek your comments, be they insults, surreal statements or indeed constructive feedback on the track itself (feel free to question my parentage as I have finally used Imposcar in a track, and it screams a bit like an illegitimate child).
Personally I'm undecided on this one, should I leave it as is, turn it into a 12 minute epic or just pack up and go home?

Like this a lot. 
Those hand-drums are really well mixed in imo, and I love the reversed speech sample.
Overall, the feel of it reminded me of Earth Nation - you heard of?
I can't wait till you've got enough tunes to put out a CD.

Glad you liked it, can't say I've heard of Earth Nation, to me it sounded a bit like Hybrid but I didn't want to say that in my first post as it would be arrogant (Hybrid are one of my production heroes!). 12 minute epic, I was thinking of dropping it away at the end of where it is now, then bringing in some big strings and a 4/4 beat (unusual for me), what do you think?-

Bring up the string/pad in the busier parts of the track.
The vocal sample is getting to be a running theme. I think you should lose the rev verb, its too samey. Try another effect.
Could be longer. I think it would sound good for another 3 mins or so, with a nice breakdown, 4/4, and big up for the finale

Sadly, that's all fair comment, and I'm well aware of the sample treatment, but to be honest I'm not sure what else to do with vox (any thoughts? what would you guys do?). So 2 out of 2 people vote for a breakdown, 4/4 and big finale...I'm on it! (might be a while tho!).Kriminal wrote:OK.

A few things: more filter work, less scratch-work.
I agree on the strings getting a little nudge up, not only in the busier parts, but all round, although more modulation in the quieter parts.
Some strong beats happening allready and great percussion on the side too.
A few suggestions on where to go with this:
1) shorter, dirtier with much more oempf on the bass and drums, and lots of dirty lead work.
2) 12 mins, but try it without the drums for a change, leave some of the percussion in and work on the nuances of for instance the acid work. Allow the melody to be the driving rhythm.
3) Collab with a guitarist, or someone who can beastily add up on those beats (Bonteburg, Rozzer, Kriminal )
4) Change some diapers, skip a nights sleep and try making this track with only three elements of what you have now
But most of all; keep up the productive work. I am enjoying what I hear coming from you

For variations on vocal fx, try
timestretching
gating, and cross delay
radio/telephone EQ (make sure you bring the vol up tho)
or for some mad stuff, try Cyanide2 or some diff filters and see what happens. Sometimes a good tubey flange sounds good, like its inside a submarine or something
Anyway, just a thought. Its only a small part of the track, but can make a big diff

thanks sir! I was just thinking I might try and feed it thru a reverse delay (so it builds up) and a comb filter or summink...

Aye, sounding good there.
If you want to take it further from where it is it probably needs some kind of melodic motif (oooh, look at me wit hthe fancy terms ), such as a simple piano or guitar bit over say 8 bars, through a delay....or a big fuckoff string section perchance.
May one also suggest not coming in with the hi-hats as a 16th pattern straight away, you could take it from 4ths to 8ths then to 16ths as the track goes along, builds it up a bit better (ye olde drummers trick), and if you're feeling really adventureous, a bit of automation on the old tempo of 1 or 2 bpm at strategic points.

I'm shite with melody but I do want to put some big strings over the top a la Hybrid (yeah right, as if...). Having said that I did that yesterday and as usual for me, it sounded a bit gay (no offence homos ) and poppy - I'm crap with chords and melody (it gets worse!).
Definitely plan to take this one further tho (somehow )
