Hello,
For the last few years, my only 'musical output' has been creating dj mixes of current favourite tracks in a given style for my own listening enjoyment.
To make these, I have used Sony Acid Pro. I asked a couple of weeks ago about Mac alternatives and thanks to suggestions from users here, I'm now getting to grips with Ableton Live Intro, which is proving to be great fun and pretty much does what I need (and no doubt a lot more I haven't yet discovered).
What I would do previously is - render my mix to a .wav file and then open it in Sound Forge to trim the file up, then master it using a simple setting in Izotope Ozone, just to compress and limit the file to increase the overall loudness. If I could be bothered, I would then cut the file back into its individual (but mixed) tracks so that I could create 'an album' in iTunes so you could easily skip back and forth through the mix rather than having one long mp3.
Whilst I still have my old PC with Sound Forge and Ozone installed, I'd rather get a similar solution for my Mac so I don't have to use my PC at all.
Possibly (like this post), my method was longwinded.
As far as I can tell, I cannot download a Mac version of Sound Forge from Sony's website under my existing licence and I don't really want to buy another licence just for the purposes detailed above.
Can anyone suggest a cheap or even better, free, Mac equivalent to Sound Forge? Also, any cheap or free mastering plugins I can use in that suggestion?
Thanks for your help,
You're awesome (in advance).

Try Reaper demo. It will still be operational past trial but with aditionnal loading time. For master plugins go to tokyo dawn labs and get the free Nova, Slickeq and Kotelnikov. Additionnaly you could also install Kazrog's full bundle there is a nagging screen in demo mode the clipper is outstanding. I think the mastering eq is like 5$ currently you should check it out.
