I know there nearly every DAW can work with wave files .
But I am looking for a DAW that is created around the purpose to work perfect with wave files.
And so the workflow is designt to handle wave files.
Easy slicing up beats, real pitchshifting and transposing of wave files and perfect time streching to fit any wave to your needs.
Lets say this actions of pitch and time shifting could even be automated.
So a DAW that lets you pick up all your sample librarys and put them together for a song and lets you quick adjust the pitch or the speed of a sample to match to your song and idea.
Hm.
May be that question is stupid but may be there is a DAW that is designed to do exactely that in perfection.
All the best

Maybe I am misunderstanding you, but isn't this what a sampler does? Maybe you should try HALion or Falcon. They pretty much do everything you asked.

Ableton Live is well known to be excellent choice for this.

Pro Tools' focus has always been on audio.
Bit over the top, maybe?

I've worked in the past with Sony Acid Pro 7(unsure what the new version does). It does what you ask. Also Reaper, very good for manipulating audio, but quite clunky if you ask me. If you want go the free route, there is Audacity, which I did not tried.
My main DAW is Ableton, though editing audio is a breeze, i'm having a few gripes with the overall quality of the audio. For example the pitch shifting is in my ears inferior compared to other DAWs, for example Logic, even Geist (VST plugin) is superior to Abletons pitch shifting. Also, wave files must be warped to manipulate it, which I've found a pain in the ass, cause it degrades the sound?
'Create fades on clip edges' - default feature - does makes a difference in Abletons preferences, as it creates more punch for your drums for example.
So yeah, interesting topic, I am looking for a alternative aswell, since I work with audio mostly.

Samplitude is a beast for audio.
it has a wave editor inside which you can work on and save independently so it appears in it's own tabor slice and send to the project edits non -destructive. it's really powerful.
if i have enough dosh i would buy it.

Audacity is an audio editor, not a DAW.alex921 wrote: there is Audacity,

IMHO and IME BWS and Live are the best. Reaper is as good as you make it, but it needs a bit work to make your preferred shotcuts etc. Reason is very good also but it may not be exactly what I believe you're after.classic wrote:DAW that is designed to do exactely that in perfection.

This DAW is really perfect! I'm sure every life form in the universe will agree! Even rocks jump up when I make waves with it.classic wrote: perfection.
