Just ran across this tonight...blew me away!
Eastern-like orchestration in 1967,not on the album ! The Beatles had only introduced it just earlier with "Tomorrow Never Knows" and later "Within You and Without You" on Sgt. Pepper.
Don't know how this backing came about...would like to...but did hear David Crosby(producer "Song to a Seagull") say one thing he did right concerning this album was in keeping backing like this off of it. Of course "Night in the City" was backed by Steven Stills on bass with some other players, but I think the rest is all solo.
Joni is said to be speaking and walking since the aneurysm. Wikipedia has her seen at a few music events last few yrs. Happy to know that. If you haven't seen "Joni Mitchell:A Woman of Heart and Mind" (American Masters), and your a fan, you can find it if you know where to look. I highly recommend it.
