Do I miss something or is there still no undo/redo for parameter changes in plugins and for volume fader changes?

It did not work here like that, but I noticed that it works in a new project.

But as soon as I insert a waves plugin it stops working. Not only for the waves plugin, for every parameter change. Even for things that worked before? Bug? Does it work wirh 3rd party plugins for you?

Post

Plugin undo works fine here with every plugin I tried, even VST2 stuff. I don't have Waves plugins though.

Post

Ok, no idea why, but after I restarted my whole computer it works like it should.

And it's broken again.... I hope this is a bug and not a limitation. Seems random to me.

It's also happening in Cubase 9... I just play around with some plugins and track presets. And suddenly the undo is not working anymore and no new entries are visible in the undo list in the mixer.

Any idea what is wrong?

So I think I can recreate it with 9.5

* Open a project
*add an audio track
* open the mixer (f3)
* add a 'insert' effect for that audio track in slot1 (use the Cubase own filter / 'DualFilter')
* move some knobs (undo gets recorded)
* move the effect via drag and drop to slot2
* move some knobs (ERROR: nothing is recorded anymore)

Can anyone try this to confirm?

Next one in Cubase 9.0.x... when I insert various user effect chain presets in Cubase 9 in a insert slot via drag&drop it's also not working anymore. Seems very unstable. I'm reconsider if I should buy it at the moment.

Yep, tried it. Nothing after drag&drop.

Submit the bug report to Steinberg. I doubt they're looking for stuff like that on here. If they have an official support or bug report avenue, definitely don't miss the opportunity to inform them.

Logic 9.x (and from what I hear Logic X) has extremely inconsistent undo, too. It isn't a bug, it's just entirely incomplete undo design. It's annoying. No software today should lack compete support of undo.

Not following you here, sorry.

Not sure where the drag and drop comes in.

Cubase 9

*add a curveEQ on insert 1
*add a curveEQ on insert 2
* save that as a effect chain A)
*delete all

*add a curveEQ on insert 1
*add a curveEQ on insert 3
* save that as a effect chain B)

*load effect chain A)
* load effect chain B)

undo doesn't work

Please tell me if this doesn't work to reproduce it or if anything is unclear.
