An excellent free limiter from Lively Audio just got better! (still 32 bit though)

Some new additions compared to the old version, like stereo link, 4x ISP and a transient sharpness button.
The CPU utilization has been improved and it sounds great.

Well done Nikko! :tu:

No 64 bit ? :scared:

Amateur technicians are assessed by the tools they possess - and the amount of those tools, with an obvious preference to the latest hyped ones.

It was created with flowstone.

LOL@Flowstone. Man I feel sorry for the guys that were trying to make something go with this tool. So much potential that pretty much just died with the birth of DSP robotics.

IMO this is one of the best, if not THE best free limiter. I have been comparing it to Pro-L 2 and it holds its ground surprisingly well.

If you need a good 64 Bit Limiter, check Unlimited from Sonic Anomaly: http://sonic.supermaailma.net/plugins

I know.

I moved away from 32bit lately... I am sorely missing this one.

As AndreasH said, Unlimited is a great choice.

Yes, I have it.

I managed to have Metaplugin run it in bridge mode, and metaplugin itself contained within MUX for easy recall :dog:

The best free limiter by far is the free version of AOM Invisible. Only a fraction below the capability of its payware brother. It's a little buggy though.

Doesn't seem to be available anymore ...

EDIT: Found it. http://www.vstplanet.com/News/10/Invisible_Limiter.htm
Shame its 32 bit only.

Just tried it and no, not even close to Maxwell.

Agreed this is one of the best free bw limiter. I thought this version is gonna be commercial, can't remember what i've read tho...

But i still remember a word "dirty" when i try the free version of AOM limiter some months ago. Perhaps harmonics and/or -subtle- distortion, i dunno. So maybe this is why it will suit some taste/genre.

There is a beta of the commercial version (not public), but since it's only 32 bit the development stopped. I hope Nikko figures it out and make a 64 bit one.

Hmm.. Been doing lots of tests with both this morning. I can't get Maxwell to go anywhere near as loud as AOM unless the smoothness is all the way to the left - in which case it sounds dirty as hell (not necessarily in a bad way - just lots of harmonics being generated I'm guessing).

I'm guessing this limiter works in a similar way to Loudmax - very long release - as you get to a certain point with the threshold and you don't really get any more loudness as you increase.

AOM preserves transients much better - and stereo image better too. I've long suspected AOM is a cross between a soft clipper and limiter because it trounces every other limiter out there while preserving transients - pretty much the effect of a soft clipper.
