Hi gang: Merry Christmas!

How's it goin', eh?

It's your reporter from the "Great White North" with another deep review for your enjoyment. ;)
This time, let's peer under the hood of PreSonus's Cadillac DAW, "Studio One Professional v3.5" and see what it's all about. If you have a few minutes, and care to come visit at the Reviewer's Den, feel free to check out the article.

I used Studio One 2 since 2014 - and 3.x since 2015 so know it pretty well to a deepish level for the music I create. I didn't read it all as right now I'm pretty sleep deprived atm.

It's a brave effort to try and review Studio One 3 and to try and cover everything but also incorporate what is offered in 3.5. Unfortunately there are some things that are a bit misleading.

For example, “Rotor”, “Bit Crusher” are not new to 3.5, they were introduced in 3.0..

There are also smaller but significant features added between 3.0 and 3.5, and there's significant features you completely over looked such as the new Audio Dropout Protection and Low-Latency Monitoring improvements - 'Studio One dynamically optimizes CPU efficiency for low latency monitoring and plug-in processing'. Which was part of 3.5.

You've covered lots of stuff, but it's more of an incomplete overview I feel.

Still, it should be an entertaining read and particularly for Sonar users atm who are still sitting on the fence.

A review is cool. But people need to start downloading the demo. Sonar users you have to download the demo. I'm noticing some are just buying whatever DAW and then turn around mad because certain DAW's don't have the features that Sonar has. Studio One is studio one, you will have to learn how to adapt to different DAW's.

Thanks for your comments. I've reworded the blurb about "Rotor" and "Bit Crusher" to correctly reflect the product's release timeline.

I did mention the new low-latency audio engine, but you're right - it deserves a highlighting paragraph or two all its own: I'm in the process of writing about it. ;)
However, I SURE DID brag (in no small way) on the wonderfully improved CPU performance in Studio One, as of version 3.5 . . . Jus' sayin' *Grin

I did not try to write a compendium of "What's New" in S1 3.5; rather, my review is written for those who, unlike ourselves, haven't been S1 users since ever...
I tried to write a review of substantial breadth so that the DAW could be better understood, ar at the very least, interesting, for a broad audience. :)

I agree that folks would be well served to download the fully functioning 30 day trial version. I wrap up the review with just that sort of exhortation. ;)

As per your good advice, I've just published a revision of the article, in which I shed some light on Studio One's new, "Split Personality" audio engine and the powerful "Native Low-Latency Monitoring" feature.
