Adding VST linking capability to other applications

Hi,
Does anyone here know how easy it would be to add VST linking ability to other kinds of applications than just dedicated music software?
The reason why I'm wondering is that I'm having a discussion with some people whether a video editor could have VST ability, thus a possibility to add all kinds of audio fx for each video/audio track.
For example, let's say I'd like to add the Kotelnikov compressor to a video software's sound/video track via VST (or perhaps Rewire, as I think Rewire is also a wrapper for VST). Would it be difficult for the video software company to implement the VST capability?
Hope the question makes sense! (Note that it's not about if this would be a good thing or not, I'm asking for the technical feasibility.)
Thanks!

Some audio editors already support VSTs.
Davinci Resolve and Premiere do AFAIK.

Final cut does it for au plug-ins. But its a bad tool for mixing and editing audio.
I would always load the video into Logic, do my magic and export the video with the new soundtrack...

Okay, thanks a lot for your replies! Then it's fully possible, I'd say.

Absolutely. I think there's a thread about a new Vid editor/DAW here from sometime in the recent past. DaVinci Resolve?SparkySpark wrote:Okay, thanks a lot for your replies! Then it's fully possible, I'd say.
