I was wondering who is using a standalone Sample Editor instead of their DAW for chopping samples?

One of the main features I'm looking for is an easy way to quickly and accurately find zero-crossings for the start and end of slices.

I'd love to hear recommendations and also your thoughts on the pros and cons of why you choose one over the other.

I'm not sure if you're looking for something to chop up loops into playable slices, or you're just looking for a good audio editor. FWIW, I've read good things about Studio One's Sample One and Cubase 9's new Sampler Track. Ableton's Simpler is also quite capable. Some DAWs integrate with external editors, too.

Are looking for a rhythm slicer? If not then windows software Björn Bojahr Session 2 WAV (Freeware) does the trick quickly of automatically chopping a sampling session at zero-crossings when there is silence between individual samples in a WAV-file.
