Just got Tracktion, Win 10 64bit. My Alesis V49 MIDI output shows "V49" and I can hear audio play when I strike the keys...

For input, I selected the only available input of "MIDIIN2 (V49)"...

When I go to record I get the message "Recording is only possible when at least one active input device is assigned to a track" - - even though yes, I did select the "MIDIIN2 (V49)" option when right clicking the track.

I have no clue what is going on here or how to solve it. Any help is very much appreciated : )

Sounds like you're attempting to record Audio while you only have a Midi device.

NB: the Tracktion / Waveform forum is here:

Definitely go to the subforum.

If you select the V49 as the input and have something for the MIDI notes to trigger (vst or aux send to hardware) you should be able to play the notes and hear them. Next, toggle the record active button also on the left side (forget exact name) on the active track. Then click the Record function in the transport controls (bottom right). You should capture what you play.

I think I have that right - working from memory.
