Out of the box, Studio One doesn't really support surround sound as of yet, (maybe they will in version 4.0 officially), but in any case it can be done using a range of mixing techniques. In one of the tracks I produced in the past year called Sytrophia, it was pretty much focused on creating a surround sound environment within a 2D or stereo space. I used my own particular methods in which to do this but there is some crossover, given the nature in which creating space within a piece of music is simulated vie various means such as panning.

Sound On Sound, has some interesting and alternate techniques in which to setup surround mixing, which for anyone interested in this area and uses Studio One should really check out. Thankfully, there is some reference screenshots, so one isn't left completely scratching their head in the mired of textual paragraphs. With the surround mixing examples, you can obviously create a template and save it for future use.

It's from an article published in October 2016...
