It's been around for 20 years but it's still an amazing synth.

It just has that thing, that mojo.

I can't programme it to save my life, but some of the third party banks (like Leap Into The Void's) mean I don't have to.

Still kickin after 20 years. Love it.

Absynth.

I agree, this is a deep, great synth. Just finished a week or so of working through the manual on it, which was very helpful. I especially love it for creating drones and pads. Nice long envelopes.

It’s a fantastic classic in software and if they update it to enlarge the GUI and update the filters I would break down and buy it. It’s not a difficult synthesizer. It does what you think it does. Synthesizers are not hard... especially softsynths... except CYCLE. That butch was confusing.

I agree too!

Personally I think the sound quality is sounding a bit dated, although not as noticeable in the mix.

Post

It's very ... green. An evergreen synth.
Anyone who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities.

Yes! Absynth is a true classic. Sounds dated in some areas, but it's so flexible it can do so much regardless.
A well-behaved signature.

Post

Yes, something very special!

Yup, after Reaktor, Absynth was my first love:) Patchpool's created an amazing collection of great stuff for it over the years:

…and then there's Pluginguru's interesting make-it-normal collection and great video tuts, interview with BClevenger, etc.:

Needs better filters, but other than that I agree. It's a great synthesizer.

Hate the UI.. everything else.

Great for cinematic stuff.. long, evolving pads, drones, sound effects, etc...

personally i think if you have to go out and find 3rd party presets in order to get the most out of a synth then it mustn't be that great.
I tend to rate Asynth quite low for that reason, maybe a bit higher if i could actually find presets for it. What makes a synth great for me is how easy it is to do things wit it.

A lot of pweeple sayin' its deep and shit but in terms of use-ability it's deepness is pointless

Lots of us "pweeple" actually take the time to learn synthesis such as "Asynth" and use the product to make our own sounds from scratch, so having all those deep abilities are a wonderful thing to have.
