February is almost upon us. That means FAWM is just around the corner!

For the uninitiated, it's a really cool community where hundreds of people each attempt to write/record/produce/conjure/emit/secrete 14 songs in the month of February. It's a fun challenge that encourages you to turn off your self-censorship and focus entirely on making lots of fresh music.

This will be my seventh year (I'm @halfwalk over there). One year I did 30 songs. One year I did 2. My last few attempts were catastrophically unsuccessful, due to a number of life things beating me down. But this year, I think I'm in a better place, and I'm excited to see what happens.

Anyone else participating this year?

not sure its my kind of thing, but ill think on it.

im mainly replying due to " I think I'm in a better place" which, although i don't know your previous circumstances (don't need to) id like to say, im happy to hear that

Completely forgot about that, so I’m glad you started this thread. I took part for the first time last year, but you could say “life things” got in the way for me, too: nothing important, but I was knocked out by a pretty rough bronquitis halfway through the month. The 3 or 4 tracks I managed to submit didn’t have much going for them, but still it felt like a fun thing to do and a useful exercise. I don’t remember my nickname over there, but I’ll try to look you up, funky lime, and all other kvr people. Here’s hoping life doesn’t get in the way.

I'll try to do some "pre-production" to hit the ground running this time: set up some templates, prepare cover art etc.

I'm not doing FAWM per se, but I've settled into a sort of permanent FAWM pace anyhow. I've got 19 songs recorded this year so far that aren't total duds, and 12 are candidates for an album I plan to release in Februrary once I've got a few more ready.

FAWM 2006 was what made me actually start writing my own music after many years of wanting to.

I'm participating in February Album Finishing Month

this year - I really need to wrap up a 14-song project that's spanned the last 2.5 years.

For inspiration: Mouse on Mars make 21 tracks in 21 minutes:
