Studio One 3.5.5 Update Thread

Version 3.5.5 Release Notes (January 30, 2017):

New features and improvements:

• Cakewalk SONAR keyboard shortcut template

The following issues have been fixed:

• Notes events disappearing when clicking on the Arranger Track
• Snap to grid in Scratchpad not working
• AU Plugin crash
• Crash when switching from song to start page
• [Project Page] Offline TP not exact
• Italian localization issues
• Crash after Drag and Drop with plugins
• Crash in Melodyne after "Restore"
Someone should remind AriAhrendt it's 2018 now. :D

There's lack of info in what platform i.e PC / Mac the issue's that were encountered on, which I wish was stated. The release notes arn't always great and on occasions very vague, which just isn't helpful to anyone at times...but in any case most problems are Mac platform related.

Someone should remind him of many things.
He is the single reason i stopped writing at their forums and to their support since almost 3 years i believe.

I would just ignore him. I'm telling you man he is going to get in trouble because Rick, and other employees view their facebook page. If enough users start complaining watch him either not post their anymore or another employee will start doing it.

Until you run into an issue of course. Because he, as a "Quality Insurance Specialist" is the one to use his exceptional communication skills, sharp eye for detail and effective reporting skills to bring across issues, reported by customers, to the developers. If we all start to ignore him, issues won't get fixed because they won't reach the developers.
We don't want that! Oh... wait...

Playing the "devil's advocate" here: You have to understand where some devs (or, in general, software developers) are coming from. Forum people can be harsh, unjust, and some even only join forums to troll. So, with the respective character, you can literally go nuts when you read the same incorrect, and unjust things on a daily base. From my experience in forums, i know that some devs literally go berserk, and treat people as if the same people already asked a question, or claim something for the hundredth time, which of course can be pretty unjust too. I've seen Ari in a couple of interviews, and demonstration videos, and he really seems different than the way he seems to be (i haven't seen it myself) acting in the Studio One forums (or some other forums, have seen him in the Sequencer.de forums as well). So, really, i'd take it all with a pinch of salt. Especially when you consider that these guys depend on their product, to make a living, maybe you can at least try to understand what leads to such a forum behavior. Again, there's loads of trolls and freaks out there, who really enjoy using forums or the internet as a place to feed their egos, or just act controversial to get attention, or any other sick stuff. You can easily grow a angry or bitter guy, when you spend a lot of time online.

You deleted the other items. Ok, so you want to point out new features in the software. I'd like to point out those two decimal points in the version number. It's a minor point update. We got new features with 3.5. In fact, since version 3 we've had a shedload of new features. And then a few users complained loudly on the Presonus forum that it still wasn't enough, so they gave us even more.

You must not use Studio One.

Hehehe. The (also free) 3.5 update brought many more features. :) This is rather a bug fix update, hence the ".x.x".

Did someone leave their douchebag in here?

I'm not here to complain about features of S1. I'm pretty happy with it, but after following all the updates of other daws and than Presonus comes out with a new Shortcut template its kinda dissapointing, I'd rather wait for a 3.6 update or something before releasing this after what apple and avid just released. my 2 cents only. And yeah to be honest, there still a lot of features missing that should be there from the version 3 imo. But as I said, i'm complaining only on that update and nothing more. Don't tell me you wans't a bit dissapointed that they only announced 3.5.5 update and not 3.6 or something.

I take this as an indication that they have gotten a lot of new interest and sales from folks migrating from SONAR, through their latest crossgrade deals.

..so for those folks, this is a good thing.

But yeah.. I want greater midi functionality as well.

Basically, everything Live and Bitwig can do midi/modulation-wise, that S1 can't.. :P

I wasn't. I've worked as a software developer. I know how long it can take even to update a fairly simple application. Something the size of Studio One must be a nightmare to work on at times, and even the best programmers expect something to break when something else is fixed. I'd rather wait until as many of the problems are solved as possible before they beta-test the newly-broken stuff on the users. And if they solve a few problems, as they did in this update, then I'm grateful that they're working on finding them, even if they don't apply to my situation.

As the update page at Presonus says,

The following issues have been fixed:

• Notes events disappearing when clicking on the Arranger Track
• Snap to grid in Scratchpad not working
• AU Plugin crash
• Crash when switching from song to start page
• [Project Page] Offline TP not exact
• Italian localization issues
• Crash after Drag and Drop with plugins
• Crash in Melodyne after "Restore"

Some of these were show-stoppers for some users.
