So I was thinking what do you think if Waves or UAD creating their own DAW? I like the idea of waves because they don't do a billion pieces of hardware or spread themselves out to thin like others. They focus on making plugins. Their support and sales have been excellent. I have never bought anything from them. UAD have knowledge of making hardware, and software.

And no, that would be a terrible idea considering how they handle management of their plugins, annual update fees, etc.

Technically, Waves already has a DAW, not a fully featured one however.
For some reason I'm thinking its based on Ardour.

Waves doesn't have an annual fee. It has a WUP program that allows you to continue to subscribe to free whole number upgrades. But all incremental updates are free up until the next whole number upgrade is released.antic604 wrote:beatmangler443 wrote:Their support and sales have been excellent. Such as Version 10, which is probably due out shortly, with what I'm guessing will be an overhaul of their entire plugin line to bring them into the modern age. This will include new GUIs, as seen in the 3 free anniversary editions released earlier.
There is also a $300 dollar cap on the maximum you have to pay for WUP, no matter how many Waves plugins you own. WUP confuses a lot of people that don't take the time to read the details.
Imagine if you had to upgrade 10 plugins from version 1 to version 2, you would be out $1,000, because most whole number upgrades range from $79-$129 ($99).
And just for good measure, Waves throws in a coupon worth the amount you spent on WUP.
