the absolutely ONLY reason it would be worth it is simply because you want the hardware and using it makes you happy and maybe inspired by the hands on approach.
there is no perceptible advantage in sound from using hardware and there are many many disadvantages, not the least which are cost, physical space, and ease of use. again...im NOT saying not to buy hardware, im looking at getting something new myself, im just saying personal preference is the leading factor here. get it if you really want it, not because you think you need it...you dont need it.
you can get the sound youre looking for for WAY less money and not have a room filled with stuff to do it. only you can decide if its "worth it". its certainly not financially prudent...or necessary.
