Waves Element 2 Preset Management Disgraceful

I can't believe this. There is no way to set up a user folder in Waves Element 2. This has been confirmed by Waves support. You create a patch, save it somewhere on your hard drive and then when you want to load it, you have to go to "Open Preset" and go to the location on your hard drive where you have them stored. That's it. That's your preset management system.
No wonder there are no 3rd party libraries for this synth. The folders you see when you go to load are built into the synth. They exist nowhere on your hard drive.
In this day and age, especially since Element 2 is relatively new, this is just disgraceful. What would be the point of me even creating a library for this thing? I mean who will tolerate a preset system like this for 3rd party libraries?

Sounds very much like the minimalist Air preset system.
But user presets are certainly not written within the synth. When you click on load or save, you can probably right-click and create a new folder or folder structure even with instrument sub-folders. The whole folder is what you would sell as a sound designer and what customers would copy into:
When you click on load or save, there should be a browser window, in whose address line you can see where presets are stored. It is probably a user folder, like the one found with Air plugins, with an address similar to this one:
C:\Program Files (x86)\AIR Music Technology\Hybrid\Presets\User

You would think that but no. Factory presets are stored just like factory presets in Softube Modular, internally in the VST. There is no place whatsoever on your hard drive where Waves presets exist.fluffy_little_something wrote:Sounds very much like the minimalist Air preset system.

I don't think any plugin writes presets into the VST dll itself.
Try this: save a user preset with a unique name (like rumpelstiltskin to avoid similar search results) and search your entire computer for it via the Windows Explorer.

You're not understanding me AT ALL.fluffy_little_something wrote:I don't think any plugin writes presets into the VST dll itself.

The Waves Element Factory Presets DO NOT EXIST ANYWHERE ON MY HARD DRIVE.
They are built into the VST. The folders they are stored in are built into the VST.
When I save a preset, It brings me to a dialog box where I can then navigate to wherever I want on my hard drive (I made a Waves Element folder) and I can save it there. That is not the problem.
The problem is, if I want to reload that preset, or any other preset that I created, I have to go to "Load" and then go to the option "Open Preset" which then takes me to my directory structure where I can then navigate to that folder and load whichever preset I want.
There is no way to get that folder to show up among the factory folders as a user folder the way you can with so many other VSTs.
That is a HORRIBLE preset management system in today's day and age.

Oh, it's just a comfort problem, then? Well, I am used to loading presets that way in Sylenth1
Check 2.3, maybe the setup file comes closer to the bank concept:

You should be able to create a new *.XPS file where your patches of that bank/soundset will be stored in.
By default user patches are stored in a XPS file called "Element2 Settings.xps" at C:\users\Public\Waves Audio\Plug-In Settings (in Windows 10)

Ill try this, but I agree with Wagtunes. The factory presets are so well done and layed out very user friendly but organizing your own should not be this convoluted in 2018 especially by the world leader.
I also agree that this is the main reason no 3rd party banks exist.
We jumped the fence because it was a fence not be cause the grass was greener.

I read through it quickly. Sounds a bit convoluted but haven't actually gone through the steps yet. I'll give it a shot but won't hold my breath for any miracles.fluffy_little_something wrote:Oh, it's just a comfort problem, then? Well, I am used to loading presets that way in Sylenth1![]()

And if Sylenth1's preset management system for user presets is like this, makes me even more happy that I never got the synth.

No no, I deliberately use my own folder system in S1, but it also supports classic banks of course. But I never liked the bank concept...

Okay, I just walked through it. Setups, which is what I would want, are not available for Element 2. They are available for other Waves products but not for Element 2. So no, there is no way to create a user library in Element 2.
Like I said, disgraceful.

There ARE soundsets for Element, in the XPS format:

Then they had to go through some special process with Waves like you have to do with UVI Falcon, because there is no way to make a sound bank on your own that shows up as a bank in Element 2.fluffy_little_something wrote:There ARE soundsets for Element, in the XPS format:

Also, you don't know that the sound bank actually shows up in the built in browser. Because I can make XPS files too. Doesn't mean anything.
