I purchased this, but the sample content is not located where I would have expected it, by default. With the other Padshop Pro sound sets I've purchased, there are instructions that indicated where to place the sample set. I realize with this product, the sample folder is inside the preset folder. But that's not where Padshop Pro typically looks for sample content. I would have expected a sample folder with the product's name, placed in the user/documents/steinberg/padshop pro/user samples/ folder (on a mac). Regardless, at this point, I must go through and manually attach each sample to each preset, 150 times. Any suggestions on either where to place the samples folder so all 150 are linked properly to the preset (the default location inside the preset folder doesn't seem to work either), or how to link all 150 presets to the samples folder at one time? Perhaps I'm doing something wrong here or missing something? An installation doc would have been helpful.

Hi Ed:

As I am on PC, I'm not familiar with the MAC file structure. So the best I can do is give you two options.

First off, I'm assuming that you're using Padshop Pro inside of Cubase. If not, this may not apply. That is the reason why installation instructions wouldn't be of much use because of all the different systems involved.

Look for a folder on your MAC file system called Steinberg Media Technologies

Inside that folder there should be a folder called Padshop. Inside that folder you should find two things.

1. The factory presets
2. A folder called Samples where you can put user samples.

Option 1

Take the wagsrfm folder and place it inside the Steinberg Media Technologies/Padshop folder. Place the samples folder inside theSteinberg Media Technologies/Padshop folder as well. This should preserve the relationship between the presets and the samples. However, if this doesn't work.

Option 2

Take the presets in the wagsrfm folder and copy them to the Padshop folder thus mixing them with the factory presets. Then, take the samples that are in my samples folder and transfer them to the samples folder that's inside the Padshop folder or simply delete the samples folder inside the Padshop folder and replace it with mine.

If neither of these work, let me know and I will issue you a refund and take the product off the market. Once again, a horrible preset system similar to Softube's may be the undoing of this library and why I can't find any other 3rd party libraries for this product. This is something I didn't even consider as a possibility as I am using Cubase and all this works seamlessly.

Please let me know how you make out.

Ed, I did some searching and found a post from 2017 about Steinberg and MAC.

The path should be

Users/yourusername/Documents/Steinberg/Padshop/Samples

So there is no Steinberg Media Technologies on MAC.

Here is what you do.

1. Place the presets themselves inside of the Padshop folder. If there are any duplicate names to the factory ones and it asks if you want to replace or keep both, choose keep both. You should be able to do that. To my knowledge, there is only one preset with the same name.

2. Take the samples out of my sample folder and place the samples inside of...

\Users\%USERNAME%\Documents\Steinberg\Padshop\Samples\

That should do it. If not, let me try one last thing (contacting Steinberg) and seeing what they say. There has got to be a way to make this work.

Thank you - that worked. Placing the individual samples into the Padshop user samples folder, did the trick. I tried placing your Samples folder in there before, but clearly it needs to see the individual samples (makes sense thinking about it). Appreciate the quick follow-up, now off to take a listen to the presets.

Glad it worked Ed. Please let me know if you need anything else.
