Hi I posted earlier around finding good material for TAL or CMI V like single shots or fx.
Would anyone have used those on archive.org? Is the quality consistent from your experience?
Is there another open source repository which might be useful here?
Thanks!!
Anyone use archive.org or other open source repository?

Archive.org is neither good nor bad. It has a mission to preserve stuff and, to that end, it's pretty awesome. The stuff that's on there is sometimes useful and sometimes not but it shouldn't be thought of as a carefully curated resource or even carefully monitored for copyright concerns, particularly with sound samples.
For example, many/all of the ninjam "jams" are archived there but I can assure you that people often violate various license agreements, either intentionally or accidentally, in a subtle way and in not so subtle ways, and yet archive.org simply relies on the fact that participants agree not to engage in such behavior.
AFAIK, there is nothing else that has a similar general mission, but, there are other sources of free samples e.g. sampleswap.org and looperman.com.

Freesound.org?
I found out, recording the stuff I need myself takes less time than searching the net...
