Are there any project boards (eg Raspberry Pi, Beagleboard etc etc) which have four channels of audio (2x stereo pairs) in and out? If not I guess I'll have to see what budget usb interfaces are class compliant and should run OK on one, although I think this would greatly increase both size and cost....

Thanks, both interesting solutions into which I'll have to do more research.
Seems the Beaglebone Black is out of stock most places (and neither CPC or Farnell (both part of Element14) UK websites have been working for me for about a week now but seems their prices should be quite a lot cheaper than buying it in the kit from Bela....) And as you say the Octoboard for the RPi is currently unavailable (plus do you know which of the RPi board it is compatible with as it doesn't seem to say anywhere on their website.)

when i got my Black it was similar, Uk stocks were out at most places. I eventually got mine at amazon.co.uk; a couple of shops there have them at present.
I think the Octo is for full-board Pi's only, but my crappy recollection thinks it worked with the Pi 2 B or better?
