Glitchmachines... opinions?

Found virtually nothing in Effects section about their products and themselves...
So, has somebody an opinion about their quality, usability, support etc?

I've found them pretty great in all those categories. Support is top notch and I usually have heard back very quickly, most often the same day. Sound quality is superb to my ears. Usability is superb and documentation is pretty thorough. The only gripe I have is I really wish I could see the modulations update in real time within the interfaces, but they don't. And how they implement program change is not consistent from plugin to plugin, but that is only a gripe cause I have a need for this cause of the way I make music. After all these years, I'm still interested in their new products. Similar but somehow also unique in their own ways. Lots of respect.martinjuenke wrote:Found virtually nothing in Effects section about their products and themselves...

Bought Convex and Polygon in the recent sale. Think they've upgraded some of their products to be resizeable but these two don't appear to have been included - way too small and the interfaces are really cramped with controls. Sound quality appears OK but this is bearing in mind that, given the name, most sounds are going to be degraded, bitcrushed, ring-modulated, pitch-shifted, etc.
Occasionally open them up to see if I can come up with anything interesting with them but overall find them rather fiddly and am not overly sold on the end results, although other users may have found otherwise. Not really something I'd regard as a "go-to" solution for glitchy goodness, can make something more useable and faster using audio editing and combinations of fx usually. Seem quite stable, have never needed to contact support.
Having said that, Palindrome looks pretty groovy but think I'll wait a while to see what the early adopters feel about it and then probably wait for a sale.

Love what I have from GlitchMachines so far. I tend to turn the dry/wet mix down a lot though for more subtle effects as opposed to the total mangling you can achieve... Especially with a lot of the presets.
Resizable GUI would be awesome!

So it‘s useful to bring in some foley into the mix on that low wet level... Sounds helpful to keep things interesting.dandezebra wrote:Love what I have from GlitchMachines so far. A lot of the presets tend to veer towards sonic annihilation, so it's either reach for the wet/dry or do your own. The internal modulation is pretty good but can be fiddly. If you don't like using a pop-up window for accessing a mod matrix, that could be a problem with some of the effects, except for Quadrant which uses patch cables and which can act as an easier-to-program H3000.

Truly interesting and wonderful plugins, although not likely to be everyone's
cup of tea. I haven't yet picked up the latest, otherwise I have them all.
On a side note, I just discovered that Stagecraft's Picante EQ goes particularly
well with anything from glitchmachines IMHO.
A 31 band distortion EQ based on Superhoax's picante max for live device.
http://www.superhoax.com/picante/
The EQ is on sale at plugin boutique atm for $13. I like it
https://www.pluginboutique.com/product/ ... 33-Picante
Anyway, if you happen to like glitchmachine's "sonic annihilation" try the eq...
-just sayin...
*Sometimes there's so much going on with cataract or polygon that things can sound
kinda flat. The EQ can help with that in an interesting way on a per band basis.

Was going to start a new thread but this one is relatively recent.
So anyways, GlitchMachines. Currently 3 of they're plugins are on sale at PIB, Quadrant, Cataract, and Fracture XT. My question is does anybody use them in mixes?
Im going to buy all 3 regardless, I particularly want to try and use Cataract to load it up with 4 loops from a current song I'm working on and see if it can produce a breakdown for me.
?
Can any of these plugs actually be used to Glitch a song the way Sugarbytes Looperator does tho?

I've yet to do this with a glitchmachine in a finished track, but I have done it with Tantra on this song:
A nice workflow tool for extreme glitch fx is "clip fx". In Reaper (and probably some others?) it is possible to add a VST to just one region of audio. If you put in a very dramatic effect this way then it comes across as a glitch instead of as an effect on the whole track.
I found it a lot easier to arrange glitches in a composition this way than by sampling them outside of the arrangment and then looking for the best places to slot them in.

I have Fracture and Hysteresis by them - both very nifty plugins. No experience with their sample packs, though.
My solo projects:
Hekkräiser (experimental) | MFG38 (electronic/soundtrack) | The Santtu Pesonen Project (metal/prog)

Bit hard to get useful stuff with them found Sub vert to be the most useful of all.Quadrant and fracture simply destroy everything not sure why would u need this overblown mess. His presets for Byome as well was totally useless many ppl would say its for more experimental but this is just chaotic mess.Unfiltered audio its way better more musical useful but still to go completely nuts.
I like Palindrome interface but man what its this noise they always create? Without demo cant see myself how I can use that in a track ..

I think there's something wrong with my copies as they make strange bleeps and noises and make everything sound strange. Would not recommend and will probably demand a refund from PB.

Dude, that happened to me as well. Cacophonic noises no mater what I dial in. Own four of their plugs and have to support lacandon's impression. While the individual concepts are indeed interesting and - in theory - useful, it's somewhat difficult to achieve something that pleases my ears.
Well, of course, this is strictly subjective. As it is a matter of taste when it comes to the included samples. Stopped smoking pot a long long time ago so I have no mental access to their style and sound.
