Rebuilding studio - does this make sense?

Hello, to those who know me I haven't been around much lately. Busy reviewing and writing. As some of you know I lost my last studio after having to pay medical bills.

I have a horrible sounding Mackie 1202 which was it's 1st run, so it's very old and certainly got it's share of use. It might say around as a live mixer where it's noise floor is hidden. For recording I have to gate and filter way more than should be necessary.

The studio I have now is mostly computer based with lots of wonderful synths and plugins. I have no complaints there. But, I would like to use my electronic instruments and effects. With a Delta 44 this is also fairly noisy without good equipment. To that end I was given a gift certificate for my birthday and used some of it for upgrading. Let me know what you think regarding my logic below.

Instead of a better full scale mixer I chose to get a Behringer RX1602. It is paired as 8 stereo inputs but can be used as up to sixteen inputs as well. You can see the product here:
http://www.behringer.com/RX1602/index.cfm?lang=ENG
It's a line level system with a single mono effects input. It was $110 which I think is cheap for such a thing and rack mountable which is part of my strategy which is to build up rather than expand in an already cramped space.
Furthermore I purchased a V-Amp Professional. The link for it is:
http://www.behringer.com/LX1-PRO/index.cfm?lang=ENG
I play guitar and bass. I have an old V-Amp 1. The Professional model is built on the V-Amp 2. One area where Professional the prime choice was because of it's variety of outputs.

I currently have the following equipment:
EMU UltraProteus
Nord microModular
EMU PK-6 synthesizer with all memory filled. Much of the additional memory are synths I had when the studio was sold off.
The only serious effects processor I have is a Line 6 Echo Pro which will be installed post V-Amp Pro.

The priority was getting the V-Amp Professional. It was by far the most important update I felt needed doing.

The only questions to be considered at this time are:

1. since I have an acceptable AKG C1000S mic, get powered near field monitors first, then the mic pre amp later

2. purchase a fixed, shock mounted vocal mike and preamp that matches it well

I'm leaning towards decision one as I have ancient and failing monitors. I could probably spend $300 for powered bi-amped monitors and I'm sure it would be vastly better sounding than what I use now.

So....
I need the 2nd V-Amp to record and play live. I wanted the V-Amp 2 ever since it came out. It sounds great to me, I don't need being convinced that brand "x" stomps it's ass. I'm satisfied with it's sound quality and durability. The Variax is a tough guitar to pass crappy amp models or effects on. The old V-Amp worked well with the Variax and even microphone patches. The new one has many more modeling and effects features. The Behringer RX1602 mixer suits my needs. Should I need a more powerful mixer I'd rather turn the RX1602 into a sub mixer although highly unlikely. I'm probably going to get the speakers next as I really need them. The mic and preamp would be next.

I'm thinking of practicalities and he voice sounds I got on the original V-Amp direct to the Delta 44 were amazingly good but I'm sure they can be better!

Any flaws to my plans?
