installing a Yamaha CRW-8424 in XP

Never actually installed a CDRW before but thought i'd have a go in a Compaq 1.5Ghz PC (on XP)

I have installed a SCSI board (Adaptec 2904) board into the PCI slot, and as far as im aware, seems to be working properly in the device manager.

I then put the drive in (connecting the power and the SCSI ribbon into the back) and reboot the machine, but the CDRW isnt found? it is powered as the green light is on, but just not seen?

Is there anything stupidly obvious that i havent done? are these the only cables that go to the internal CDRW?

Help?!
