hi, I'm finding it a bit odd that the UVI Beast (Synclavier), Emulation II and Darklight (Fairlight) are described generally as "inspired by" on the UVI site.
1. Are they ports of a selection of sounds from the respective sampler libraries?
2. New sounds then voiced through an emulation of the hardware?
3. New sounds with simply an evocative GUI?

They are custom patches done on actual hardware, then sampled and put into UVI engine with an evocative GUI.

not sure about the others, but 'Darklight IIx' has a number of the original library sounds. the UVI stuff is ok, but a little disappointing if you're looking for a complete emulation.
the recent Arturia 'CMI-V' is better in that regard, but still missing some sounds. however, you can find all the original samples online and load them in.
