Ableton Live Instrument Racks and Komplete Kontrol

I am looking into getting the NI Komplete Kontrol MK2/Komplete 11 deal for use with Ableton Live. Watched many videos yesterday and really seems to fit my needs extremely well. But there is one thing I haven't yet been able to figure out. I use Instrument Racks all the time to create layers/splits. Does the KK Instrument Rack they provide allow for this type of layering or are you stuck with just ONE synth?

Another question. I am assuming the DAW integration is completely separate from whether or not you use the Komplete Kontrol Instrument Rack. So if I use Live how I do today, I want to use the buttons along the top of the KK Keyboard to arm the MIDI track that has Omnisphere on it, even though it's not Omnisphere wrapped in KK's special Instrument Rack. From the videos, it appeared like it might work this way, but I just want to double-check as this is one of the most important features for me.
