That's not a bad idea! I'm always on the lookout for music stores on vacation. Just don't drink before you go in or you may end up spending more than you wanted![/quote]

Duly noted. Big bender=big spender :hihi:

Still bewildered on next guitar. I somehow seem to wanna modify anyone I like the look of. Decicions..

1. for years, I also pushed back against owning / playing a Stratocaster - then I thought : Jeff Beck can play/would play whatever instrument he wanted. He chooses to play a Strat. Good enough for him = prolly good enough for me(you). I know it's a bit cliche but there is a reason things are the way they are . . .
2. Parker - https://www.ebay.com/itm/Parker-Fly-Cla ... Sw9V5bEJH0
One either loves or hates the shape but no one disputes the feel / the bitchin sound / the unique-ness of this brand.
1. Ain't never gonna happen. Ever since I was a kid I've hated the way the Strat look. Strange, but there you go.

2. Strange creature for sure. It may be fitting for that shady music bar Star Wars scene :hihi:
I've read they're real quality.

Transplant baby.

There used to be an entire culture devoted to transplanting variax electronics into different bodies. Surprised it's died off.

Now, some of that sounded good. Especially considering low YT quality.
I like no-brand guitars such originality. Never heard of this before though.

I have no idea what would be "comfortable" to you. One of my all-time favorite guitars is the Ibanez 540S http://ibanez.wikia.com/wiki/540S which was also Frank Gambale's signature guitar.

I have one hanging on my wall. It is extremely light, extremely easy to play and has a lot of possibilities.

I'm sure it's both comfortable and versatile. But I don't particularly like shreddy looking guitars. Even if you can play anything on them. I believe guitars reflect our taste and personality as much as clothes or cars. It shouldnt matter but it does.

It's also a question of wanting to pick it up as often as possible, My blonde Telecaster looks nice imo and I like to pick it up every day. So it makes sense that way.

I've seen polls of people rating comfort in different body shapes. I think Teles and Jazzmasters / Jaguars was on top. But of course they are also most common.

BTW Ibanez owners in general seem very pleased with their instruments. Good quality control I suppose.

... or second gen Parker imports; the PDF series that are less "radical" looking ; https://www.ebay.com/itm/Parker-Guitars ... SwKDRbCwiD
same amazing trem system, light weight, pickups, killer neck

. . . gonna step away and play my own Parker now . . . while you re-watch the Adrian(twang-bar king) Belew performance I posted above

It's actually shameful the price cuts on the used market for "P" series. Anything that starts with P is Korean made. I had a P44 which only difference from the American parkers was the bolt in neck. Loved that thing. Went to a guitar store and saw a P42 which the only difference was no piezo pup and it was going for $275 in mint condition.

yep, the fender and gibson are pretty much the 'only' electric brands which seem to be 'investments'. a lot of these other great brands seem to devalue quite a bit in the secondary market. for instance, 'intheblues' on youtube mentioned it about a G&L he'd owned...

i once played a parker... don't know the model but that thing smoked...

kovacs' RG further 'up' the thread here looks great, btw...

Reading between the lines of the question and subsequent responses, I'm getting the impression OP wants a guitar that

1. Is a strat
2. Doesn't look like a strat
3. Doesn't look like a superstrat

Just get a damned strat and learn to love it! For something a little chunkier, Ibanez do some superstrats with nice stained finishes that might appeal?

I say this as someone who also prefers telecasters...

Post

what about one of the ibby talman guitars? offset body without the p90s... 'strat' or 'tele' sort of sound without the strat shape...

Tapper - this is a "pro" model of the p44 - looks like a set-neck(not bolt on) and locking tuners : https://www.ebay.com/itm/PARKER-FLY-P44 ... 1438.l2649
