I've been messing with the idea of making a Rompler with all the acoustic instruments from the GM Soundset. So far I'm too lazy to do that but here are the first 3 sections of the GM list more or less correct. See the readme for details on credit. All can be used for commercial work. Some are 'lite' versions to keep the Rompler to a manageable size as pianos can get pretty big.

Hayeah, what you just started is a giant project - with much
effort and work. And yes, the result might be very thrilling!

In what format do you do it? :?:

Remember that the format, which is spreading widest for
everybody is "wav" bound by "sfz".

This was made using Maize VSTi as I think VSTs are the easiest to use, but SFZ is definitely a big deal in the free world, my friends Paul Battersby and Sam Gossner use SFZ for their stuff.

That is a Herculean project. Best to just use the platform you can work quickest with!

Users these days do expect GUIs, and GM instruments don't need fancy scripting, so Maize's a reasonable choice.

Just kind of FYI, Sam has told me that he plans sampling many of the GM acoustic instruments on his VSCL project. He already did quite a few of the things for these categories, and I had some others, so I figured why not test the water. Right now most of the orchestral instruments just would be rehashed VSCO2 CE stuff and we can all agree I've rehashed those samples far too often! ;P So this is a very longterm project. If anyone has ideas for Guitar and Bass samples please let me know. Or for that matter percussion and sound FX. I might mess with Sound FX next as Freesound has a lot and I like messing with them and Percussion because Sam already has a lot of that out in VSCL.

Thanks Mr. D, yeah I like Maize because I know it, I admire your ability with SFZ, but I don't share it.
