need good and bad reviews about the monitors Behringer Truth

Hi all.......

Please, i'd like to know from everybody that has (or had) the monitor Behringer Truth if they like it or not....i mean......is it worth the money?? should i buy it??

Im gonna use it for Trance music production (need good bass respose and loud sound)

Is there any other monitor that is better than it for the same price??

:-D We seem to be interested in the same gear, SYNTH.

I'm looking at the Behringer 2031As myself. Look pretty good for the money. They have serious pros and cons. For me the most important con expressed in reviews is that some Behringer lines have a reputation for unreliability, and the company is said by some to be unresponsive to support issues. I couldn't tell you how representative the complaints are of Behringer customers in general, and haven't any of their goods so I don't (yet) know at first hand.

The pros? Price, good if not spectacular performance, plenty of power, nice back panel controls (and instructions, useful to someone like me who hasn't done this before), decent flatness for the price. From what I've heard, the Truths have good solid bass without coloring the sound by emphasizing the lows. Which is just what you want for studio work, of course. :-)

People who like 'em seem to like 'em a lot, those who don't hate 'em. There are several good alternatives, I'm sure someone who knows about those will mention them.

I had my Truths for some time now. Within the first year one of the monitors went for repairs twice. The last time was about November last year. Did not give problems again (yet). I don't know about the companies resonsiveness itself, but the local agent did not quible or moan at all. They just took it in and repaired it without charging.

I have some other Behringher stuff too that never gave problems. In general they have very good quality for the price. Most of the time 1/2 the price of competitors.

There are many pro studios that use truth monitors. They are very nice monitors. The best way to make up your mind is to listen to them and compare. When I did my buying I listened to many in the same price range and the Truths won easilly. The closest competitors were priced much more. Some people want monitors with a bass boost (which the truths do not have). If you want that, get a boom box and listen to your music in a sewer pipe. Truths are supposed to give a flat and true response at all frequencies.

i'm sure i will get flamed for this opinion, and i don't expect everyone to agree. the best gear is what you like best for the amount of money you can spend.

anyway, it's also a shady opinion because i've never heard these monitors.

but anyway, I have worked with, used, and heard a lot of behringer gear, from mix boards, to preamps to outboard eq, etc. I will agree that all behringer products give you a lot of features for the price. this is for sure. there has to be a reason that the price can be kept low. i don't know what this has to do with my opinion of their products, but i have yet to encounter a behringer product that sounded good to me. maybe they have really cheap components in them, maybe i'm psychologically pre-programmed to have a bias because they are cheap? i dunno. all their stuff i've heard imparts a metallic tone and deadens what goes through it.

true, i've never heard these monitor speakers. but i've never heard a behringer product that i could stand to use day-to-day in production. i know people that love their gear, and i'm actually jealous of them, because i'd love to get these features at these prices, but i dunno....doesn't work for me.

listen carefully and compare well if you are considering one of their products, that's the best advice I think. along with 'use what you like best for the money you can spend'. the best gear is the gear that you will use and enjoy, regardless of price, brand or featureset.

i use tannoy reveal active monitors, chosen after carefully comparing many different speakers at many different price points. the price/quality tradeoff seems maximized in this model, and i've been very happy with them.

You speak truth, if not Truth. And the rest of your advice is sound too.

Synth, just about everyone agrees that your own ears are the only ones that can make the decision. Advice from people you don't know is well and good but if at all possible do some A/B testing. Don't worry about annoying the Guitar Center guy or whatever; they'll probably annoy you and turnabout's fair play. ;-)

I've had a pair for 2+ years. No problems. They're good, not great. For me, I found them a bit bass-light. I could never really trust what was happening down below 60hz (and I have a nicely treated room).

I just replaced them with a BlueSky setup. The TRUTHs are still for sale - $200 shipped in the U.S.
