So if you haven't known already, the vacuum pro made by Air is on crazy sale for $1
https://www.pluginboutique.com/product/ ... acuum-Pro-

I don't understand what's behind this craziness. :? Can they really make money out of this? Well, it is very great for new customers, but for people who own their product already, like me, this just doesn't feel that right. Sure, I didn't get it at full price tho, I got AIEP for $70ish, which is already quite a bargain. But I am sure any of those instrument really is worth more than just $1. And if I remember correctly, Hybrid has also gone through this madness.

I like Air Instrument's products, but these crazy sales make them feel cheap, while they definitely aren't. And what about those who had bought the synth a few days before the sale, and suddenly found out that they lost more than $100?

I am not saying this because I spent more money on their instruments, but I am just confuse by what Air is doing... Forgive me if my idea or language is inappropriate in any way.

They are trying to get you into their eco system. The theory is that once you can't resist and "have to try it" you will dive into the rest of it. I just wound up hating ILOK more then ever and deleted everything, but that's me, others are different. I have to admit I tried it though, I did install the ILOK which I told myself I would never do, just so I could install Hybrid. In the end it wasn't worth it for me and I ripped everything out the hard way, but some feel differently. It's like marriage, we all got to try it once right?

Weren't they giving one of their synths away at PB last month if you signed up? I forget which.

This is 100% marketing. The plugins they offer are very dated and not much new has come out from AIR for quite some time already. There was a silly little update made for Loom a few months ago but it was pretty much nothing.

I saw they are trying to push their soundsets for Vacuum and their other plugin synths and my guess is that, besides from the marketing aspects, they are trying to get some revenue from the soundsets without putting in any time or money.

Personally I think it's a pity that AIR is sleeping. Their plugins may not be the most exciting on the market but they are not bad. I bought the whole bundle and there are a few plugs I use on a regular basis.

I laughed so hard at that one, coke came *out* of my nose!

Dated? Puh-leeze. It's a poor workman who blames the tools...

For everyone else -- buy the Vacuum Pro for $1. Then just keep waiting as they put each of their products on sale for $1 -- I got Xpand!2 and Hybrid3 for $1 each, Strike was free, but I did buy the AIEP3 Complete bundle this past Black Friday when they had upgrade pricing for $75. Totally worth it for the DB33 and Velvet2.

Yes, they are dated. It's a fact! While the majority of other software developers update their plugins with new features, specs and functions, AIR didn't touch these in a long while. Also a fact. It would be nice to see AIR giving some love to their plugins and especially Loom, Vacuum Pro and Hybrid 3. Resizeable GUIs are more or less standard today just to take one example.

Doesn't mean I blame any tools or think they are bad in anyway. I also have AIEP3 and I use some of the plugs once in a while.

I have to agree that there are certain features missing from their stuff. The one that frastrates me most is the unison of Hybrid. If unison is on, then polyphony is disabled. So when I try to make a powerful lead, l will use the unison combined with the wonderful overdrive of Hybrid, but I have to make multiple tracks as well as separate midi clips. This makes both mixing and composing extremely painful....

I think they're trying to make money by getting everyone on the planet to upgrade to AIEP3 Complete for $75

It is just a bug in an interface interlock, but you can have both enabled.

That being said, AIR is dated. They didn't release any new plugins in years. Loom upgrde has been dissed here by everyone. They also don't upgrade their plugins with better GUI and convenient features. Modulation options are mostly very basic and inconsequent.

I love their sound, but other plugins just let me make music easier and faster.

If it's just a interface bug then I am so happy. Could you please tell me more about how to enable it specifically?

I bought each of the plugins i have from them for $1. I have Hybrid 3, Xpand 2, and Vacuum Pro. If they wouldn't have been $1, i probably wouldn't have bought, or ever heard of AIR at all. I must admit that i never installed Xpand 2 and Vacuum Pro though, and i only briefly checked Hybrid, and decided it wasn't for me, especially because it stops processing sound, when you change certain parameters. About the "crazy sale", well, it's their decision, and i 100% agree with ATN69 that it's all about marketing, and absolutely a legitimate thing to do. I sometimes (rarely) buy games at full price, which are sold for 10 € after a couple of years, or, sometimes, even after a year or so. No complaining from me about that. It is how the market works. I'm prety sure (and also read that it is like that) that, with software, you typically sell the most copies in the first 2 months, and, after a year or more, you hardly sell any copies anymore, and a decent discount will produce a lot of sales which wouldn't have happened otherwise. Or, like in this case, will produce attention for your brand and products. Like giving out freeware.

If I was new to computer music, then the AIR pack would be all that I needed.

Truth is,if you can't make music using just those plugins, then you can't make music - period.

I use Strike all the time, it has replaced Jamstix which just sits gathering digital cobwebs.

Structure is every bit as good as Kontakt, which also is rusting away on the hardrive.

Just ignore that Xpand2 looks dated, and have fun,its a really great 4 part rompler.

The rest is just icing on the cake.
