I am thinking about buying a synth module such as Roland Fantom Xr or Triton Rack and use them with Sonar and FL Studio. I haven't used multitimbral hard synths before. I had an xg soundcard once thoug and I remembered I just downloaded a patchlist and choose what sounds to use from the sequencer. I also had to type in a sys ex code in the sequencer to edit the sounds.
My questions are:
1) Is it really that easy, you just find a patchlist and control it all from your sequencer, or do you have to set up a multi file on the hardware synths itself, with their tiny display ?
2) Can I connect my synths analogue outs to the ins on my Emulator X soundcard and hear my hardware synth playing alongside my soft synths, or do I have to buy an external mixer? Will there be timing problems?
How do I connect a hardware synth to a midi sequencer?

It is that easy.Unfortunately, instrument definitions can be a pain to make(I can't see doing an instrument definition file for all my one-off microQ banks to use in Sonar for example). If you do have one such file though,it'll at least give you the right number of banks and the number of patches in each bank-your sequencer will let you say what bank and patch number-just match the numbers up.
Yeah,it should work through your EmulatorX fine.
