How to upgrade ?

Confused. I thought it was just a matter of downloading their latest installer and running that.

I have 12.02 mostly. The way I see it so far: the installer lets you choose which plugin to install. This is very fine and works very well. Now, to update, let's say I have:

Now I will have to copy that list in a text editor, open the 12.04 installer, then manually refer to that list to check every plugin I have for update ? That would be tedious.

I have the unconfirmed impression that updates are made by installing all plugins whether you actually have it or not.

Also, the installer always asks to delete/clean up plugins at every installation of a single plugin. What is this about ?

The installer installs the individual plug-ins (these are essentially front-ends) and the kernel modules used by them all. Once you have selected the ones you want in the installer I think that that list is kept for next time.

As for the clean-up that is to help users with plug-ins scattered all over the place (to avoid unintended duplicates / old versions etc). I just do the quick clean-up automatically.

Generally it is, but not if you are on an old version- read the notes on the first page of the installation.

It does remember. That's why I had to clear the selection(s) before installing another one.

So basically I have to get my list in a text editor and manually check all the plugins I want to be installed over the existing ones. That's OK, takes time though. I would have thought there was a better way.

And then after doing that, if I want to try MXXXCore or any other, I clear the list in the installer to install just one.

And at the next plugins update I again do a directory listing, get it into a text editor, manually select all plugins I want to update by going back and forth with the list, and do the update.

And then there's new Melda plugin. Or one I would like to try. I clear the list, install just one... and at the next update ...

It might be just me, but it would be nice if the installer could read the license keys and have an 'Update' button that would automatically select all owned plugins for update purposes.

This is why you should upgrade to the Everything Bundle.
Installation requires no memory or text editors.

Unfortunately it never did that for me Neither when changing from a major version nor from a minor version. And eventhough I had to run it in admin mode because of the windows folder rights.

Even if I had the money to allocate to this, I do not see why I should get Everything. Really. With what I have at the moment I have enough to learn for 1.5 years. And then there are some plugins whose uses are absolutely not clear that is, in practical terms, not in theory. MCharacter, MPhatik, MVocoder, MMoprh, MBassador, MRhythmizerMB, MTransformer, MUnison, and even MPowerSynth's place amongst all other synths would not be clear at the moment. And then, once practical uses are actually tested, the time to actually learn these devices... Even with the demos I do not have the time to asses their practicality related to the music I do.

So I still think that it would be down-to-earth practical if the installer could read the installed license keys and make selections on its own for update purposes.

I was being pedantic

I had the same problem as you but had an amazing upgrade deal so went Everything, which solved this little problem

It has been on the todo list for some time, but no dev time, I'm afraid... Anyways once you check what you want, it will remember it for the next time, so it's just a one time thing.
