Hi everybody,

After months of pondering, and in celebration of scoring a job, I snagged one of these beauties. Whether Novation tech support still exists, I don't know, but I'm e-mailed and phoned - dead line. Hope someone can help!

On a centrino laptop running XP professional, the ASIO drives refuse to install. Every time, the device is recognized and installation proceeds, but stops with the message: 'Unfortunately the installation failed'.

I've downloaded the new drivers - same result.

I was able to install the midi driver and thus upgrade to the standalone synth (which is seriously cool), so it would appear to my be ASIO-specific.

I wonder if anybody had had a similar experience, or if anyone would could lend their wisdom.

Just for clarification: Novation Tech support responded to my e-mail (I thought they had gone under - that's what the music shop guy said - and thus why I got it cheap).

Anywayz, Nick @ Novation sent me the newest x-station drivers. I tried these and the problem is the same. The installation stops at exactly the same point each time - just as it says 'Installing the USB drivers'.

Anyone have an idea??

OK, I have it working now - with the default Windows drivers and ASIO4ALL. Everything seems in order.

I've had a bad experience with Novation before, but this really is a great piece of kit. I finally feel organised. And the free firmware update is the icing. It sounds fantastic! - and can be run on batteries without a pc...

I picked up one of these two and it works great. The X-Station upgrade is rad. Everything seems to work ok except I am having problems getting the built in Audio Interface to work on my Intel 2ghz, 256mb ram, Dell laptop. It seems to be latency issues and causes all my programs to run very badly and just spit out very distorted noises. I've tried new drivers, tech support, the whole bit, maybe I should try the ASIO4ALL. I didnt think of that. I will give it a shot.

My only very small complaint is most of the included templates were all off on the Midi CC's so I pretty much had to reprogram any of them I had use for. One more thing is that I wish it would have included a built in vocoder...then it would have been everything I needed.

All in all..its the best investment I could have made.

Yes, I use the ReMOTE Audio 25. The X-Station bundle (ReMOTE 25 Audio Extreme bundle as they called it before) is very good value for money considering you get Cubase SE, V-Station, hardware synth, midi controller, audio capability, pre-amps, effects. Not bad at all.

i love my x-station, very tidy bit of kit 4 sre. prob best to use the asio4all drivers at present until the merge gets settled (that is between novation and focusrite) and new ones come out. I hope the x-station retains it's value
