Suddenly no audio from YouTube.... [Resolved]

This morning YouTube has suddenly been silent on my main PC. No changes have been made to the configuration at all, that I'm aware of anyway.

Obviously I've Googled but only retrieved suggestions such as make sure it isn't muted, etc

Soundcloud, Amazon Prime, Netflix all work perfectly so it's strictly a YouTube issue.

Thoughts?

Good point, forgot to mention that important piece of info. I'm using Chrome but it works perfectly in IE.

Re addons: Excuse my naivety but no additional ones other than what comes default with Chrome (ie, no ad blockers etc). Is this what you meant?

It's baffling.

Just reinstalled Chrome and it made no difference. I wonder if it's a Chrome update that's gone screwy

I'd definitely delete the user files, when you reinstall it. Maybe there's something wrong in there.

Sorry if my suggestion is also too obvious, but did you make sure that you haven't accidentally muted YouTube (right-click on tab and see if it there's a "Unmute site" option)?

I'm not surprised reinstalling chrome makes no difference. Just typical the user settings are not uninstalled.

Must be something simple like a hidden mute button, fader at zero, whatever.

You make a great point re spending too much time on there. It is true it's my number 1 visited site (sorry KVR) by a long margin. Hence why I couldn't live without it.

To be fair though I do only use it for instructional stuff and music, not for cute animal vids etc.

It is a wonderful wonderful site obviously but I can see it sucking a lot of time if one isn't careful.
