Hey everyone, just a quick note to let you know that the ambient 'threesome' I'm a part of - called Cluster Balm - is now officially official. Meaning - we released our first album!

It's called "1.0", and it is a 2-disc set that is literally filled with dark ambient, tribal ambient, abstract sound sculpture and other ambient goodness. If you're a fan of anything ambient, I hope you'll check out our samples and see what they're all about :

We're thinking about whether we should make a few tracks downloadable or streamable in their entirety. Do y'all think that would help people learn about the music, or are the excerpts enough?

Anyway hope you give it a listen. I'm REALLY happy with how this album turned out. As always, any feedback, good/bad/indifferent, is welcome .......

:D :D :D

I listened to a few of the excerpts and they are quite good. Now if only I'd have a credit card it would have been out and buying this album :)

Nice stuff... might have to buy it. :)

It's of course up to you how much to give away as a promo. I think some people might want to hear a single track through more than once in order to get a good feel for it, and I don't think one entire track would keep people from buying the album (unless they think the track sucks, of course). So I'd lean towards one full downloadable track. But that's just me.

Don't do it my way.

I'm thinking at least one downloadable track and a few streamable full tracks. The flash thingie we use to stream them makes it slightly more difficult for the average joe to rip, so it's probably okay. Did anyone have any problem streaming the samples?

Yeah, but Paypal requires a credit card too not?

I can only do bank wires here :?

Actually you can set up PayPal to work directly with your bank account, sort of like a debit card. In fact, it uses the same ACH system that banks use to process checks. Seems like it can be used in most countries too. Anyway, worth looking into even if you don't pick up the album - a useful way to pay for things internationally, if nothing else.

Cheers!

I liked the samples I heard (first four or so), excellent dense, layered sound.

My only complaint with the flash streamer was that the sound stopped if I moved focus to another window, so I couldn't read other things while listening. That and there was no way to shuffle through samples. An m3u of the 30 second snippets might be useful.

Cheers,
Steve

OK I've uploaded an "all" set to the server, so you can stream all of the excerpts in one shot, or download an 11 minute mp3 of all the excerpts in one shot. I'll check with the other guys and look into which track or tracks we wanna make downloadable in their entirety.

I'll look into getting a streaming radio thing setup as well.

OK I added our label's "streaming radio" thing to our page so you can listen to several of our tracks in their entirety, as well as tracks from some of the other Blue Water Records.
