Using subtractive synthesis, does anyone know how it may be possible to create a "crunching" sound. Similar to stepping on broken glass or breaking an arm something like that. Wet and crunchy. Thanks for any help!

you can easily do this with synth1 freebie
use the noise source. amp env sustain to zero; tweak A/D. filter env sweep; high sustain, tweak A/D
set both LFO to square wave on 'amp', moderate (but different) speeds and amounts. tweak speed and amount.
for a glassy sound, perhaps set the other osc to sin or tri, with a high pitch. turn on the FM knob. set the mini-envelope to 'fm amount'; tweak amt, A/D.
finally, tweak sound with the EQ and add ambience with the chorus and delay.

Hm, X, for a challenge you are being a bit vague.
What kind of options do I have? How many and what kind of oscs? Can they be synced in any way? LFOs - how many and what can they modulate? Can Ring mod be used? Envelopes? FX? etc.
Just like that I would say RM, FM and Noise are good candidates to achieve that kind of sound - either that or an oscillator with a glass breaking kind of sound
Cheers, Jo

Sorry, perhaps challenge wasn't the right word to use. Read challenge as "help me, because i am finding this to be challenging."

Pummel, that's funny because that's basically exactely what I was doing, it just didn't sound organic enough for me. Maybe it's time to pop out the microphone

perhaps try synthedit.. i don't recall if synth1 has 'tuned' noise, and getting the right 'colour of randomisation' is essential to 'natural noises,' so i'd use noise run thru a filter as a modulator (which will colourise it) also "sample & hold" effects might be useful for glass effects.
